How It All Started

A Tale of Passion, Respect, & Innovation

Betel leaves hold an indelible place in Indian ethos. In Odisha, paan is not merely an after-dinner palate freshener; it is offered to Lord Jagannath in Puri and exchanged between families as a sign of supreme hospitality.

When Ramakanta Senapati moved to Bhubaneswar, he observed thousands of modest paan-wallahs operating on dusty street corners. He envisioned something different: an organized, spotlessly clean, air-conditioned boutique where patrons could savor genuine Varanasi leaves crafted with pharmaceutical cleanliness.

His father, a humble farmer, agreed to support him with a seed capital of ₹1 Lakh—with one unnegotiable condition: that Ramakanta must never bring dishonor or a bad name to the family name.

In those arduous early months, when resources were scarce and survival was an everyday struggle, Bhanja Babu of Upendra Medical Store offered Ramakanta shelter in his own home. Fueled by gratitude and dedication, Ramakanta opened his doors in 2008 at a time when the surrounding neighborhood was quiet and undeveloped.

Our Uncompromising Standards

The Four Pillars of Our Craft

Why four generations of families in Odisha place their trust in Banarasi Paan Bhandar.

Pillar I

Direct Farm Sourcing

We bypass middlemen to procure fresh Maghai and Banarasi leaves directly from trusted growers in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, ensuring crisp texture and zero leaf decay.

Pillar II

Pure Botanical Kattha & Chuna

Our Kattha is double-boiled with aromatic spices to eliminate bitterness, and our slaked lime (chuna) is purified through repeated milk sedimentation for gentleness on the tongue.

Pillar III

Hygienic A/C Environment

Paan confections are sensitive to humidity and street dust. Our fully air-conditioned preparation counters ensure that leaves remain crisp and ingredients stay cool and sanitary.
